South Africa Gold Sovereign

South Africa Gold Sovereign
Following the discovery of large gold deposits in the local area, the South African Pretoria Mint was opened in January 1923 and stayed in production until 1932.
In 1941 associations with London were broken and the Pretoria Mint, once known as a branch of the Royal Mint, became the South African Mint. Since 1958 the production of the South Africa gold sovereign was restarted to supply the bullion market, however, these sovereigns were not released into general circulation.
